Graphic Signage For Sweden’s Kalmar Kunstmuseum

Art & Design

We can’t vouch for their art collection, but the contemporary art museum Kalmar Kunstmuseum, located in Kalmar, Sweden, certainly has graphic signage that’s fittingly inventive. Creative agency Sweden Graphics was tasked with creating the museum’s visual identity back in 2008, and created a logo comprised of a bespoke typeface, Kalmar Sans, and an off-kilter solid yellow squarea clean, graphic mark that lent itself beautifully to directional signage throughout the museum. Said the designers, “We decided early on that we wanted to paint on the surface of the building walls. The stairwell is a bit of a concrete love affair and we wanted something to sort of bounce off that estethic but at the same time work along with the material.”
