In the market for a time-waster that somehow manages to make you look arty and sophisticated? Say hello to Dots, an iPhone/iPad game app which gives you the most rudimentary of goals—connecting identically colored dots along horizontal and vertical lines—wrapped up in a package of orderly, economical good looks worthy of Damien Hirst’s endorsement. A product built by New York-based Betaworks, Dots allows the user to wile away hours in addictive connect-the-dots mode via an interface that, not surprisingly, looks terrific paired with Apple’s own brand of minimalism. Best of all, Dots looks so refined, no would would suspect you’re up to no real good.
