Architecture & Interiors
There are few things we welcome more, architecturally speaking, than the unexpected infusion of color. And this Los Angeles home, in paying homage to the exhilarating buildings of the Mexican architect Luis Barragan, makes use of the particularly beguiling combination of saffron and pink. A collaboration of architect, landscaper designer and homeowner, the final product of this Mid-Century Modern renovation has, of course, all the elements we admire in domestic architecture—modest size, open floor plan, carefully chosen, but unfussy materials—but it’s the daring choice of color (exactly how many of us would go anywhere near pink?), that transforms this home from 20th Century classic to 21st Century dazzler.
