DIY: a warm, modern placemat

DIY + How To

November and December are notoriously known for their centering on gathering around the dinner table with friends and family to celebrate life and enjoy company. Really the perfect sort of addition to any home, modern or not. Why not keep that warm, friendly, welcoming feeling going strong all year long in home? We found the perfect, easy-to-do, able-to-tackle-it-quickly-so-you-don’t-already-mess-up-on-your-new-year’s-resolutions project to do this week: DIY modern place mats.

Spotted on the site Maggie Makes, these fabric place mats feature a traditional shape dominated by a pattern that is one part trendy geometric triangle and another part friendly argyle. You’ll need a sewing machine for this one, but the pattern is so simple, the lines straight and straight forward and the instructions so clear, this could even be a the perfect learn-how-to-sew project if that was on your list of things to tackle this year. And while we think they chose a lovely palette, keep in mind you could customize these to fit your home or the holiday/season you’re celebrating! More here.

What do you think? You gonna try this nice ease in DIY project for the new year or try something a little more involved from our awesome curated collection of modern DIY projects

Just checked this out…unfortunately it would appear that blog that I cite the project from no longer exists. Sorry about that! It was working and existing when I first posted…they must have shut down.
