lovisa wattman's oval oak parmesan cheese grater.

Lovisa Wattman is this month's featured designer at from Sthlm, a Web site that highlights one Swedish designer and their products each month. Ms. Wattman enjoys cooking, and so her products tend to be food-focused. I'm smitten over her Oval Oak Parmesan Cheese Grater with storage box. It's a beautifully crafted implement that can be used in the kitchen and at the table. In fact, it's so sleek and modern you will probably want to craft your meals around cheese just so you can use it!

Loopa Spill Proof Bowls

In case there are any moms reading, I thought I'd share one of the products I've been needing to get for my son (although it may keep him from spilling his snacks, I don't think it will keep him from throwing them at me).

I thought this was a really innovative idea. This bowl was designed to keep it's contents from spilling and consists of a weighted inner bowl that spins 360 degrees on an additional rotating outer bowl. Created by a Mom and her engineer husband, it's the perfect solution for parents with little ones who like to spill their snacks. The plastic 3-piece bowl comes apart for easy washing, and at just under $10, I think it's well worth the money.

Yeti... now for breakfast

A few weeks ago, some beer enthusiasts introduced me to a beer called Espresso Oak Aged Yeti. Yeah, pretty amazing name... but the label is even more impressive. Even though I have not tasted the beer yet, being the design nerd that I am, I had to share the label design with you guys.

Espresso Oak Aged Yeti is brewed by the awesome folks at Great Divide Brewing in Denver. They have several award winning beers and I'm sure they will add some design awards to their shelves soon. The layout, illustrations, and overall design of the labels is brilliant and quite humorous. Nothing is cooler than a Yeti walking around with a beer mug (fig.1). If you disagree, feel free to down a few of their 9.5% abv brews and I'm quite certain that will help you see the light.

The folks at Great Divide Brewing  help us by suggesting some lovely food pairings. The Espresso Oak Aged Yeti is best served with breakfast burritos, eggs Benedict, hash browns, cheesecake, and creme brulee.

Ha! Sounds like heaven.

So thanks to Kapil & Blake for this... maybe next time you guys can actually let me taste one!

Awesome job Great Divide Brewing and the creative team behind the label and site design.

Check out all the Great Divide beers and labels here.

Dharma Initiative Food... for you

Dharma

If you are fan of Lost, like me, you probably know well these labels.   These are not very cute, sure we will find best packaging examples in the supermarket, but something we can not deny is that, these labels are mysterious, just like the TV serial.

So... how to get all this Dharma food products? Easy.  You don't have to buy it.   Just need to download the labels on this site, and put on your own food.  You will notice that they are many alternatives avaliable.

I can't wait to invite my friends to dinner and say: Oh, do you know these packaging too? I always thought that only Dharma members knew about it.  I have recently returned to the island, just to share with you a sample of our food.  Hahahaa... Enjoy this design's joke at home!

TWIST produces quality espresso rivaling traditional machines while giving espresso lovers unparalleled convenience and portability. The world's truly portable espresso machine. Just add hot water and coffee. A pneumatic engine also ensures coffee without external power and can produce upto 8 cups each. Twist is scheduled to arrive in the US this fall and is estimated to cost $129. It would make an excellent addition to my travel gear!

Crochet food at Etsy: Yummy!

Do you remember an old post of mine about HYPERBOLIC CROCHET CORAL REEF?  Well, this is completely different idea, but in the same textile technic.  It's just amazing what it can be created with crochet. I'm starting to think that there are not limits for our imagination.

At etsy, we can find great examples about food on crochet.  Some shops like NeedleNoodles or Stripeblue offer to us, a variety of sweets and salty dishes, that have turned in a big tentation.  Even if you want to try to do it your self, because they also sell the patterns.

There is only an important problem about this kind of food...  and that's it, we cannot eat it!
