Recycled Beauty: New Eco-Friendly Modern Lamps by Varaluz
Furniture & Lighting
The contemporary lighting company, Varaluz, embraces the concept of upcycling wholeheartedly, fashioning a range of modern pendant lamps, wall lights and chandeliers by repurposing existing materials. Each Varaluz modern lighting fixture is handcrafted, leveraging materials as unusual as discarded bottles, seashells, and fibers—elevating overlooked waste materials into artful examples of functional design. Painstaking hand-labor by skilled artisans, and responsible details, like low-V.O.C. emitting paints, finishes, and resins, are amongst the ecologically minded elements used in all Varaluz modern lighting—illustrating ‘green’ values intrinsic to the Varaluz design philosophy.
The Varaluz Treefold Linear Pendant Lamp (top) is part of a new collection of contemporary lighting, featuring nature-based motifs. Hand-forged steel ‘branches’ and an elegant circular shade comprised of recycled metal mesh converge to form a richly textured modern pendant light, available in 4-light and 6-light iterations. The popular Pinwheel Pendant Light (above) is an enduring Varaluz modern design, its organic shape inspired by whimsical childhood toys. Recycled aluminum strips, each piece cut and twisted into mini pinwheels, and attached to a central sphere, give rise to a dazzling contemporary lighting form.
