A Stylish Contemporary Bicycle From Fritz Hansen & Velorbis
Furniture & Lighting
Legendary Danish modern furniture brand Fritz Hansen has collaborated with Danish bicycle maker Velorbis on a handsome city bicycle that stylishly merges Denmark’s twin passions of bicycling and modern design. The newly released Arrow Seven 60 bicycle has been named for Fritz Hansen’s exalted Series 7 Chair, Arne Jacobsen’s popular 1965 innovation that marks its 60th birthday this year. Fritz Hansen, the licensed manufacturer of Jacobsen’s prolific output, has already noted the anniversary with a limited edition release of two new Series 7 colorways, and sees the Arrow Seven 60 bicycle as yet another homage to an iconic piece of Danish modern design.
The Velorbis Arrow Seven 60 is a hand built machine, featuring leather seat and handle grips, and a frame and wheels given the “bespoke Fritz Hansen brown” color treatment. Precious details, like a copper bell, stainless steel fenders, and leather-bound toe clips elegantly signal that the limited edition Arrow Seven 60 is a luxurious design piece as much as a functioning bicycle.
“We are always interested in presenting our brand from a new perspective that is interesting to our clients. And we are always interested in working with strong brands that share our vales, and our collaboration with the Danish brand Velorbis is an example of that,” read a statement from Fritz Hansen, while Velorbis added, “A well-designed bicycle is a piece of contemporary furniture, which deserves to be displayed on your wall at home, to be admired by yourself and your guests, complementing your other designer furniture.”
The limited edition Fritz Hansen Arrow Seven 60 is available in both men’s and women’s models, and design enthusiasts willing to go along on this ride (at approximately $1,000 a pop) have a choice of equally stylish leather Fritz Hansen saddle bags and brief cases to sweeten the journey.
