Apple Finally Unveils Apple Watch

Trends & Events

Apple WatchRumors of Apple’s smart watch design turned out to be not one bit exaggerated when Apple CEO Tim Cook introduced the company’s Apple Watch yesterday, lifting the veil on yet another Apple device intended to alter life as we know it—and far be it from us to argue with him.

Slated to hit stores in early 2015, Apple’s media blitz came, as usual, with tantalizing wrist-centric possibilities, outlined in a long, painfully dramatic video demo from the company’s design guru Jony Ive. A custom-designed chip essentially makes possible a wrist computer, complete with apps to facilitate everything form text messaging to Siri questioning, which will presumably mean that we can look forward to people communing with a body part instead of their phones and tablets.

“Because you wear it, we invented new, intimate ways to connect and communicate directly from your wrist,” Cook admitted, alluding to the painstaking care given to the watch’s esthetics. A range of customizable watch faces, a choice of 6 wrist bands, two sizes and three distinct collections and corresponding metals, promise a watch with plenty of that old fashioned Apple magic. And one that tells time, to boot.
