Milan 2014: New Outdoor Collection from Gandia Blasco
Furniture & Lighting
The Salone Internazionale del Mobile, or Milan Furniture Fair kicked off yesterday, and Spanish furniture and textiles maker Gandia Blasco was ready and waiting with a new elegant outdoor furniture collection created in collaboration with Shanghai architectural firm Neri & Hu. The Jian collection, named for the Chinese concept of “in between,” includes a range of seating and tables comprised of thermo-lacquered aluminum frames outfitted wtih removable fabric overs, and equally refined monochromatic upholstery.
The linear, low-profile collection of sofas, poufs and tables, available in a variety of sizes suited to flexible, modular arrangements, feature frames finished in white, bronze, anthracite and sand. The Jian collection was informed, says Neri & Hu, by the need to “create a collection that has an ethereal quality, capturing both time and space, the sky and land, something to give poetry to outdoor living, and offer a restful sanctuary to everyday busyness.” We feel more rested already.
