Pantone Color of the Year: Radiant Orchid

We won’t claim to have predicted it, but, naturally, we’d like to think our October Autumn Trend feature (below) influenced Pantone’s 2014 Color of the Year decision. Calling it a color that “emanates great joy, love and health,” the color authority has designated 18-3224, or, more explicitly, Radiant Orchid the hue of the moment, taking up the mantel from 2013’s Emerald. Not quite lavender, mauve, or violet, Radiant Orchid has a dose of pink and a dab of blue thrown in, but we’re not picky. We like purple in any shade—and by any name.
