Less Plastic, More Coin

Trends & Events

Screen Shot 2013-12-28 at 12.36.26 AMWhether or not it turns out to be a revolutionary device, Coin has our tongues duly wagging. This credit card-sized invention renders obsolete the need to carry around a wallet full of plasticby storing salient information from a slew of credit and debit cards within its slender profile. As the video (below) demonstrates, a smart phone app allows the user to transfer content from each credit card to Coin, after which Coin essentially morphs into whichever card is selected by the user for a transaction. Goodbye, bulky wallets; adieu, clumsily rummaging around for the right card. Eager adopters will have to wait until mid-2014 for a Coin, but pre-orders are being accepted now. Interesting that Americans still use swipe cards. This “invention” is a bit like a fax machine transmitting in high resolution.
