Demonstrating the versatile properties of hand crafted porcelain are these preposterously realistic salt-and-pepper shaker sets by Michiko Shimada. The Japanese born Shimada, who honed her skills as a ceramicist at New York’s Parsons School of Design, has been producing a range of products from her current home base in Brooklyn. These 6 1/2 in. banana shakers, which can be filled via a rubber-plugged opening, are hand crafted from colored porcelain and given an unglazed finish.
