Whether or not Charles Eames would have approved is anyone’s guess, but artist Phillip Estlund has found a way to put a signature spin on a vintage Eames fiberglass chair. Estlund, who’s best known for his collages, came by the idea of applying cut paper images and polyurethane to his Eames chair quite by accident. While working on a series of collages in his studio, he casually placed cut floral images from field guides on several surfaces, including his chair. Liking the effect of the vibrant flowers on the plain fiberglass surface, Bloom Chair was born.

Normally I am not a fan of floral prints, and this is defiantely that – Buuuut I can’t stop looking at this chair, it has a real retro chick feel to it and would go with any colour scheme. I think I’m lovin it.

From someone who loves floral prints, this is something I’d love to have.
