Is it art or is it furniture? With Brazil’s designing brothers, Fernando and Umberto Campana, a bit of both—and some performance art thrown in for good measure. At the Milan Furniture Fair last week, the brothers introduced five bed designs for the Italian brand Edra, all referencing their own previous work—which, anyone familiar with their output knows, guarantees a few eyebrow-raisers. Among the offerings were a four-poster bed with a veil of raffia that resembled human hair (ack!), and a wrinkled leather bed frame looking like so much smeared chocolate icing. The Corallo bed, by contrast, is downright beatific, surrounded by a halo of tangled gold wire, echoing the scribble of steel that defined their 2004 Corallo chair.
