Modernist Dollhouse from Minimii

Categories: Architecture + Interiors, Kids + Baby

jacobsen-dollhouse-1-e1306846308561Egg, Ant and Swan will hold altogether different meaning for some children, thanks to Minimii, a Danish company that takes child’s play seriously. The brainchild of founder Linda Sternberg, a mother in search of a dollhouse without the ornate fussiness of traditional dollhouses, Minimii has put its efforts towards creating an impressive replica of Arne Jacobsen’s pristine white house in Charlottenlund, Denmark, together with miniature versions of his most exalted furniture designs—all for the benefit of children. With the approval of Jacobsen’s heirs, who provided Sternberg with the blueprints of the Charlottenlund house, Arne Jacobsen 1:16, is built to 1:16 scale, and is also offered in a smaller, less elaborate version to be hung on the wall. Either way parents will be set back a penny or two. Modernism, even in miniature form, doesn’t come cheaply. jacobsen-dollhouse-2jacobsen-dollhouse-4 Screen Shot 2013-04-23 at 8.46.02 PM Photos: Minimii
