No 100th birthday should go unobserved, least of all that of an iconoclastic designer. In celebration of what would have been Ray Eames’ 100th birthday this past December, Vitra has released a new edition of the famous Eames Hang-It-All coat rack in a trio of fresh colors. Ray, according to Vitra, was the half of the Eames duo responsible for the original child-friendly combination of nine multi-colored balls; and while this new series maintains the vibrancy of the original, the single-color models (in shades of red, green and blue), arranged in a gradient-like pattern, offer something new for those inclined towards monochromes. Ray, we suspect, would approve.
