It was, of course, an inevitability that the (recently opened) Republic of Fritz Hansen showroom in Milan would drive the design cognoscenti into a hyperventilating frenzy. Any collaboration between the venerable Danish furniture maker and Milan-based design powerhouses Spotti and Studio Peppe was destined, it would seem, to be hailed as a modernist Shangri-la. But still, one look at these ravishing photos, and it’s clear that destiny and inevitability, fully realized, may still wield enough power to astonish.
