Hot or Not: Marset’s Old/New Funiculí

Modern Decor

Funiculí is a new edition of a lamp that was originally designed and produced in 1979. So it’s like a new, old lamp. An old, new lamp. Well, we can be sure of one thing: it looks good! (At least in our opinion). Designed by Lluís Porqueras, the objective was to do away with the superfluous and create a simple and functional object. 30 years later and Funiculí does all that and still looks good.

“The name Funiculí comes from the concept of a “funicular” action – moving up and down. The mechanism for raising and lowering the lamp uses a pair of clips which make it very easy to change the height of the shade to meet the user’s needs. The shade itself can be rotated through 360º to point the beam of light wherever it is required. The base of Funiculí is covered in rubber on the bottom, avoiding the cold contact between the metal and the floor and adding stability to the lamp. It is available in black, white, red, beige and moss grey.” More on the Marset website.
