Eduardo Alessi’s Eco DIY Collection
Eeep! Love designer Eduardo Alessi’s new Eco DIY Collection, because it involves two of our very favorite things: healthy-for-the-earth materials and getting to make things with our hands.
“The Eco DIY Collection is a series of products that use recycled cardboard as structural material. Every item is a flat 2D pattern cut from a single sheet paper to save material for production. The main characteristic of the collection is that the items are assembled DIY by the user simply following the instructions on the packaging: fold the paper along the notches and impressed creases applied on the paper, no glue, cutting or other instruments are required.”
Totally genius! Because of the material these are really lightweight products, and easy to ship because they are flat-packed. Those items that are electric products are totally energy efficient. And once you’ve folded your product you get a cool modern design — each of the five designs are modeled after an endangered species of animals. “This raises the consumers’ awareness and makes them remember that each product and how it’s produced is in straight connection with the environment where we all live in.”
