File this under things we wish we had when we were little (and wouldn’t even mind having for ourselves today). Spotted on Honest to Nod, this brilliant DIY project combines a furniture piece you probably would already have in your home (or wouldn’t be difficult to acquire) with a little imagination to turn the whole thing into a giant wall-sized dollhouse that would not only be fun to work in, but is pretty cool looking!
Involving a bookshelf, new or old, any style, but simple seems to work best. MASHStudios’ Bookshelf would be great for a castle, while Spot on Square’s Roh Bookshelf would be a cozier cottage. You’re going to want to treat each space like a room, adding some “wallpaper” (may we suggest extraordinarily affordable, modern samples from Ferm Living, Aimee Wilder, Graham & Brown, Flavor Paper or in the case of very fickle kids, temporary wallpaper samples from Tempaper!) and some great modern dollhouse furniture. Then all you need is a little string on the wall behind the bookshelf to hint at a house shape and you’re done! All the instructions for the nitty gritty details can be found on Honest to Nod.
Do you wish you had one of these when you were little? Will you be making this for any of your little ones?!
