RISD alum Mark Ellingwood’s Laser Cut Clocks
Modern Decor
Industrial Designer and Rhode Island School of Design alum Mark Ellingwood has recently launched his new line of stylized contemporary clocks which can currently be seen and purchased through kickstarter, the world’s largest funding platform for creative projects. Mark likes to use a variety of materials and construction methods to create contrast and complexity within the form to produce even greater depth.
He utilizes the laser because of its ability to cleanly and accurately cut a variety of materials into shapes that are difficult if not impossible to create with other conventional cutting methods. He says that he always has had a fascination with geometric forms and as an industrial designer he feels compelled to look for ways to incorporate these pure forms into functional art. Learn more about Mark and his project.
