Jacal transforms overlooked and mundane household items into reinvigorated objects for daily use. Decorative and functional, the collection includes birdcage luminaires, grilling grid magazine holders, dish rack serving trays, incense burner ash trays, and shower caddy spice racks, to name a few.
Pictured below is a typical Central American portable stove called anafre. Due to their versatility, they are still widely used today in rural and urban settings alike.
Jacal added an electric circuit, woven plastic and a touch of genius to create this side table + lamp.
Based in Mexico City and founded in 2009, Jacal is run by three women who find most of their inspiration whilst strolling through the city’s markets and finding objects with potential –like this awesome bird cage turned into light fixture.
