Spotted on But Does it Float, we’re just adoring the futuristic illustrations of Japanese artist Hiroshi Manabe. Though there are definitely lots of glittering urban structures and skylines often featured, he also touched upon nature, and you see those themes spread throughout his work, as well. Of course, it’s his use of color in these illustrations that gets him the most attention, and the palettes often time have a very retro-feel to them.
Though Hiroshi Manabe is no longer in this world, his work, perhaps most famously with sci-fi book cover design, is still popular among fans of his work, and you can tell that he just so happened to capture the hopeful, exciting feel to the Mid-Century era, when many folks still dreamed of space travel and the like.
