Down Under Modern: Peninsula House

Architecture & Interiors

Boy we’re loving this Aussie example of modern home design! Located in Victoria, Australia and designed by Watson Architecture + Design the homes really sits in and respects the awesome wild surroundings of its yard. It’s also seems to have the colors of the region pulsating through its corridors. We love the thick, narrow columns along one side of the living space, that seem to at once define the whole home and really create an energetic rhythm to the entire house.

And all that wood! Love the golden tones to all the wood, that seem to clad both the inside and outside in different sizes, and directions. “Located just several hundred meters from Victoria’s wild and rugged coastline, the client’s brief for this project emphasised the desire for an informal seaside retreat – as comfortable to use by one person as it would be by ten. Distinct private and communal areas were also of key importance, along with a desire for the communal areas to open-out to the exterior, breaking-down the threshold between inside and outside spaces.”
