Interiors: Rashed Alfoudari’s Ubon

Categories: Architecture + Interiors

We’ve mentioned it before, but over on Pinterest we’ve started a little board we like to call 2012 Trend Predictions. We just want to help you be your hippest and coolest in the new year. One forcasting we’ve made is that we think dark + dramatic is totally gonna make a big splash again this year. The easiest way to make a dramatic room? Add black, of course.

We’re really digging the colors, style and feel of the restaurant Ubon located in Kuwait City, Kuwait by Rashed Alfoudari, spotted on Archdaily. What makes this space so wonderful isn’t that they painted the wood slats on the walls and ceiling black; they used that cool burning method where you get that matte black color but still keep a lot of the warm qualities of the wood left. We’re not suggesting you take a flame thrower to your wood walls, but it’s certainly an inspiring space, don’t you think?

What do you think about this space? Good inspiration for your home or too far-fetched to work in a residence?
