Polka dot motif

Yayoi Kusama’s obsession with polka dots starts with a childhood memory. She produces many works based on this remembrance. Her current exhibition at Centre Pompidou celebrates the Japanese artist’s paintings, soft sculptures and installations.

Fluorescent polka dots glowing in the UV light dominates the space; this was an earlier installation in 2008.
