Kim Høltermand is a freelance architectural- and landscape photographer from Denmark. Kim was born into a creative family with both his father and grandfather being artists; his grandfather once worked as an architect. He currently lives in Kirke Værløse Denmark with his wife Camilla and their daughter Sally. In addition to his burgoing career in photography which only began a few years ago, Kim Høltermand’s day job has him working as a fingerprints expert in the Crime Scene Unit of The Danish National Police.
Here is an artist whose work looks very ethereal, perhaps a bit haunting but beautiful. Høltermand extrudes the textures from his subject you can feel the silence waiting to take a breath. Indeed breath taking. I cannot say that I find his work uplifting. However, I find myself unable to look away as he reels you into the image. One can almost feel the density and chill of the fog which lures you into a sense of just being. Light and dark and shades of grey are the primary color palette. There is barely a trace of color present in the photograph but just enough to make it believable.
Whether photographing nature or architecture, Høltermand has his fingerprint on the image. Cropped and from his point of view for heightened drama. Intrigued by the angels, curves and rhythmic patterns in architecture and nature alike, Høltermand’s imagery is in my memory banks.
Have an infinitely modern Holiday!
