French artist Daniel Buren is synonymous with his colorful stripes using materials such as glass, canvases, mirrors in large scale public installations; but he also captures the detailed, close up elements of his work to bring out the essence of color, light and transparency.
Hermes scarve by Daniel Buren.
Started with a color field approach with his paintings, today Buren uses color to move into the space with a light weight and presence.
His installations challenges the expectations of its surroundings but also emphasizes the site; so it is a dependency. Stripes are used as a visual tool for this process.
