Live Modern: Söderöra

Architecture & Interiors

Ooh! This home we found on Architizer not only includes a tiny, pod-like modern shape and size, but it is also comfortably nestled amongst some nature. Two of our favorite things when we look for cool modern architecture! Seriously though, this one has some amazing views that were specifically framed. It’s almost as if the place was designed so that the views themselves would become the art, instead of putting actual art on the walls. And the all-black, non-descript exterior treatment is intriguing to say the least. Also love the sharp, angled geometry of the interior partnered with the homey, almost traditional-feeling thin white wood planks of the ceiling and walls.

“On a remote island in the Stockholm archipelago, this small house is built within the context and specific conditions for construction that no car access for transports result in. The house is designed with a central open living space, and two bedrooms, a bathroom and a storage room placed in each of its four corners. Glazed niches create a connection with the exterior, and two recessed windows form covered outdoor terraces which function as an entrance porch and dining room. Roof and facades are finished with the same black slate bitumen standard roofing product. Interior and outdoor rooms have natural and light grey painted sawn wooden panels.” Created by Tham & Videgård Arkitekter.
