Way long ago when I graduated from college I went on a backpacking trip through Europe with a friend. While every bit of it was pretty dreamy, there was one day that was the dreamiest: the day we spent in Switzerland. Cows frolicked! Goats said hello! The landscape was breathtaking and the people extraordinarily kind. It was amazing to see how happy everyone was. Not a day goes by that I don’t think about moving there. This piece of architecture isn’t helping. The Lumbrein Residence, by Hurst Song Architekten, is a modern fantasy wrapped in stunning and charming Swiss nature. Geez it’s amazing! Super simple and super modern materials and big windows let the amazing views take center stage. Light-colored yet warm wood wraps many of the walls and built-ins mean there isn’t a need for a lot of cluttering furnishings. I kind of wish the kitchen built-in’s weren’t so dark, and that stairwell with the floating treads is a little scary, and I admit I’d do a little more decorating (like maybe some art) but otherwise so much else is spot on. If someone just wants to let me know when I can move in I’ll be there!
What do you think about the Lumbrein Residence?
