While we love a sleek modern home, we tend (personally, for this blogger anyway) to really appreciate eclectic styles and the modern solutions that people and designers come up with when they are faces with two styles. There could be two styles because of two personalities of people sharing a home, or, in this case, when the home’s inherent style is very strong and quite a bit different than the home owner’s. We’ve seen rustic/modern attempted before, but never quite as stunning as this interior renovation of a home in Space by Anne Girod.
This house has mountains of character — huge wooden beams and trusses, stone walls, earthy materials and touchable textures. The designer did the house justice by leaving a lot of that character visible, choosing to only perhaps lighten up a few, clean or brighten up parts. Combine that with some super sleek modern additions like kitchen counters with stark lines and filling the house with pieces of furniture with lots of personality, we think this is an excellent example of something that we in this modern world have to do: marry different styles!
