Interiors: Schragen

Categories: Architecture + Interiors

Okay, so we know we usually show a lot of images of an interior to talk about why we think it’s modern and pretty and all those fun things, but we’ve only got one this time. Wanna see what the rest of it looks like? Read on to see the whole photo!

So there are a lot of things we’re loving about this photo, found on a Dutch website (so them’s details are scarce, kay?). First of all we love how everything is white-washed…the ceiling, the floor, the table. It’s all white. This brings a huge amount of serenity to the space, but also opens the whole room up and makes it feel real bright and airy. Secondly, they’ve added a couple of natural elements, like that simple wood stool and that lovely, textured natural material poof. They don’t fill the space with nature, just a couple of touches. Then, check out that sweet industrial black hanging pendant light, that really accentuates how simple the whole design is. And that rug! Love the bold, trendy-right-now pattern and all the colors. Lastly, that steeply vaulted ceiling is pretty rock star! Not everyone can have that, but the rest can certainly be incorporated! More (well not really more, but where we at least first saw it) here.

  1. The picture is actually about the legs of the table called “Shragen”. The house is a typically dutch with the pointed roof.

  2. First of all, it is nice to see the owner renovating the roof space into functional spaces. Typically in traditional houses, such spaces are usually filled with insulation and unused materials. Being efficient of spaces is essential for any architects or designers nowadays. In terms of integrating nature elements into this roof space, I think the inclusion of nature lighting is one of the elements that make this project successful. The nature lighting along with white washed walls really gives the space the energy that used to lack. Furthermore, by incorporating natural timber, the designer had created a sense of warm and comfort around the space. Thank you for sharing.

  3. It’s nice to see people still utilizing white space. The work area is excellent because it is simple and not cluttered.
