Cut precisely like a surgeon with a scalpel, Lorenzo Duran uses the leaf as a back drop of his art form. For Lorenzo Duran of Naturayarte, a leaf is not just a mere leaf. It is his canvas. A leaf which has been picked, washed, pressed and dried add tiny cut outs revealing forest landscapes, butterflies with lace like wings, the silhouette of trees, and swirly designs.
Inspired by nature as its own art form, combining a background in painting and the studying of paper cutting, gives this artist, a unique edge. “I started by noticing that there are various techniques for cutting paper. Probably the master of paper cutting are the Chinese, whose expertise dates back for centuries. The symmetry in their designs and lace are spectacular.” Says Lorenzo Duran. The trick is not to tear the leaf in the process. Some may think that his techniques seem a bit old fashioned in the era of the laser cutter? To that I would say, we would not want to start any forest fires.

Have an infinitely modern day!

oooh love this!!!
We do too!!
I saw this in my feed reader and thought “Oh, that’s neat, laser cut leaves” then I read the description and was floored.
Hah! Love that you thought it was computerized at first! It doesn’t quite look like a human could get so detailed, does it!
Well done, i like art by using the nature!
Totally! So beautiful and wonderful!
