Stole Stool by Haruka Imai and Shaun Kasperbauer

The Stole Stool is a collaborative piece by Brooklyn Designers Haruka Imai and Shaun Kasperbauer. The stool is named after a woman’s shawl; a stole. The Stole Stool was the first prototype of a series designed to emotionally comfort the user.

The stool itself is manufactured from Cherry wood. A wool knit makes up the basket and blanket and is attached to the piece with large wooden buttons. When in use, the blanket can be pulled out of the basket and used by the person in the stool. The blanket can be fully removed and machine washed. When the blanket is placed in the blanket below the stool, it provides a comfortable place from someone to place their feet. The Stole Stool is both an emotional and literal security blanket.
