Road Sign Lounge Chair
DIY + How To
Using surplus road signs from the highway engineer’s office in Hale County, Alabama, designer Will Holman has put together some sleek, laid-back loungers. Each one is made from an old sign, cut, perforated, and folded into an ergonomic shell, then mated with a base made of locally sourced pecan wood, a species of hickory native to the American south. The final product is what you might call a locavore chair: everything in it was sourced from within a mile of the designer’s home (except for the optional cushions), and all those materials were recycled.
He’s posted a detailed article on how to replicate the chair here.
