In case you’ve been living under some sort of circular rock, modular housing and building practices have flung themselves out of the fringe architectural practices right into the mainstream. You still want a definition? Well they’re homes, pre-made as sections in a warehouse, and shipped to your land to be put together on site. Like big, giant, stylish building blocks, they offer a lot of advantages, and usually look real cool.
One Austin company is called Ma Modular, and they just culled a lovely portfolio together of their recent projects, as well as a few options should you wish to build your own. Check it out here.
Speak up! What’s your take on the whole modular movement that’s become a legitimate form of modern architecture? Love it or leave it? Live in one? Give us your opinion in the comments!

I LOVE it! i don’t live in a modular home, but sure wish i did with designs like these!
These really appeal to me for northern California living. I’m hoping to retire in one, perhaps with friends as neighbors in similar buildings.
I would LOVE to retire in a modular home! I hope it happens for you!
love love love!
