Pieke Bergmans makes a series of virus-formed crystal vases that crawl over tables and chairs. During the process of forming the glass at high temperature, the vases leave black burn stains over the wood. While pressing the big hot bubbles onto wooden pieces, some of the woods texture is fused onto the glass. His concept is based on “meeting” the traditional glass craft with the furniture in the eye of a modern designer. This confrontation is also about the meeting of design and art.
