A mid-century Finnish designer of printed textiles, Maija Isola was inspired by African Art, Slovakian folk art, Finnish peasant motifs and Colour Field painters. Using strong flat colors of large scale geometric patterns, she arranged art and design elements under one composition, one as an extention of the other.

Considered a contemporary textile designer of her time, Maija Isola created timeless designs and beautiful colorways.

Today Marimekko celebrates 60 years of design and selects 60 works including Maija Isola and her daughter Kristina Isola’s lovely fabric prints.
