Art & Design

Modern art (well, art of all types) can elicit a variety of feelings as wide as the entirety of the human emotional spectrum. Sometimes we feel in the mood for art that gets our blood flowing and excites us. Other times we need art that brings our blood pressure down as it relaxes and inspires us. The art of Mallory Page Chastant does just that.

Inspired by different coastal landscapes throughout the South, Mallory blends her uniquely soft subject matter with arresting color palettes featuring sea greens, light blues, grays, ochres and other earth colors that any South Louisianian would be familiar with, and that any person could enjoy.

Harsh edges and outlines are traded in for lovely, amorphous shapes that move and meld in an intoxicating way that gives her paintings a lot of energy and movement. Simple compositions give the viewer a rest from frenetic subject matter of other modern artists, making way for a calming, relaxing and recharging art viewing experience.

I am a great fan of Mallory and her pastel tones on her paintings. All her artwork has a very soothing and calming effect on me (while my artwork is much wilder with colors that pop into your face..). I love to look at paintings that are balanced because my inner self seems to be a little out of control sometimes..

You chose some very nice ones, especially the first one, I haven’t seen this one yet,
