Trend: Triangles

Art & Design

Sure, straight lines and sleek angles get a lot of attention in modern furniture and design, but circles and squares aren’t the only shapes who deserve so much focus. We’re not sure why, but we’ve always had a soft spot for triangles (could it be our love of the work and life of visionary R. Buckminster Fuller?). It’s clear from the sort of items creeping into homes across the country that we’re not the only ones craving this geometric shape.

In accessory form, triangles are bite-sized geometric elements to bring into any style. In textile form, they are soft, comfortable and show that triangles have a lovely side. We love seeing triangular furniture, though–bold, exciting and unexpected.

YESS!!! Just yesterday I told my friend, “In 2011, triangles are the new circle for me!” One of my NY resolutions is to do more doodling and drawing, and I definitely plan to incorporate triangles into my design. After all, the triangle IS one of the strongest shapes in the universe! ;)
