Pattern: Suzani

Art & Design

Yes! One of the best things about being a blogger is learning new things! Even though we had heard the word “suzani” before, we had never given it much thought. Maybe mistakingly thinking it was a brand of furniture or something. Nope! It’s a pattern! And one we are going to share with you today.

Taken from Wikipedia: “Suzani is a type of embroidered and decorative tribal textile made in Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan and other Central Asian countries. Suzanis usually have a cotton (sometimes silk) fabric base, which is embroidered in silk or cotton thread. Popular design motifs include sun and moon disks, flowers (especially tulips, carnations, and irises), leaves and vines, fruits (especially pomegranates), and occasional fish and birds.

Yes please! We’ve included some lovely Suzani patterns from a great Etsy store we found, MaterialRecovery in this post. Enjoy!

I agree! Learning new things is awesome. I discovered Suzanis six months ago and I have never seen something as gorgeous! I have googled a lot and the ones from the Bootstrap Project are really awesome and support a great cause.
