Food/Design: Icenhauer’s

Categories: Architecture + Interiors

What happens when one of Austin’s top restaurant architects meets one of the hippest new hang out neighborhoods in Austin? Why, a super-freaking cool bar with a cool modern interior and a hip, vintage exterior. Welcome to Icenhauer’s.

The name Icenhauer’s sounds more like a sports bar with scantily clad waitresses slinging bar room favorites, but we assure you the last thing you’ll think of when walking into this place is football. Michael Hsu and his designers have done it again with this cool and sleek place to grab a drink and hang out in Austin.

Located in the Rainey Street area of Austin, this neighborhood is filled with tiny, old houses that have been converted into bars. The outside looks charmingly vintage, and the inside of this place looks sleek and modern, but with warm, natural materials that really make the whole place feel like its enveloping you (modernly, of course).
