Austin’s New W Hotel and Residences

Categories: Architecture + Interiors

It’s here! Austin residents have been waiting for the completion of the W Hotel and Residences for some time. Watching as each tantalizing level got completed, waiting to see how Austin’s skyline would change and what fabulous features the interior would sport. We’ve got one of the first looks of this new Austin architectural addition.

From the press release: “The W Hotel and Residences opened last week in Austin, Texas, creating a bold centerpiece on the city’s skyline and a new center of gravity for downtown. Designed by Andersson-Wise Architects of Austin, with Boka Powell as architect of record, and developed by Stratus Properties, the 37-story tower occupies a prime location framing City Hall and Lady Bird Lake. The multi-use project contains 17 floors for the W Hotel and 20 floors of W-branded luxury condominiums as well as Austin City Limits Live at Moody Theater, the new home for the venerable PBS television production. The 1 million square foot project is expected to be the first mixed-use tower in Texas to achieve LEED certification, and it’s on track to be silver. Andersson-Wise collaborated with local designer Heather Plimmer on the hotel interiors.

We haven’t gotten a chance to poke around there ourselves yet, but we can promise you that as soon as we get in, we’ll be posting photos for your viewing pleasure. These lovely photos in this post were taken by Andrew Pogue.

What do you think?! Worth the wait? Can’t wait to see more?
