How to: Decide If It’s Time to Renovate

Categories: DIY + How To

So…you’ve been living in your home for awhile and constantly come across inspiring home projects from folks who felt it was time to renovate their home. Have you wondered if it was time for you to enact some renovations?

Not so fast. Renovations can be costly. Take a long time. Cause marital strife. Don’t walk into a renovation without thinking about all the aspects involved in one and without asking yourself these important questions:

Do you have enough money for the projected budget of your project? Oh you do? Now, do you have two to three times more than that amount? Cause let’s get real here, it’s going to cost more than anyone thinks.

Thinking about doing it yourself? Do you possess the important combination of gumption, moxie, know-how and a decent set of a tools (as well as understanding neighbors)?

Another place to rest your head? Do you have a place to stay while repairs take place (or an uncanny ability to sleep anywhere/through anything?)

An actual need for it? We all get a bit restless sometimes about our living space. Are there other steps you can take first before you start ripping up tiles and tearing down walls?

  1. New to the US interior design scene having just arrived from Ireland so nice to discovert a refreshing blog that takes a lot of design back to basics. I especially like the DIY section which is particularly apt for the current climate. Keep up the good work. I shall look forward to future posts.
