Welcome to the new 2Modern Blog!

Categories: News + Events + Contests

Big news! You spoke and we listened. After more than 6 years and 3000 posts, we decided to revamp the 2modern Blog to reflect our growing readership of loyal followers. You’ll still find the same inspiring, exciting and fun content as you always have, but we’ll also be introducing a more organized and dependable schedule of posts, as well as some incredibly exciting new features.

In addition to showcasing cutting edge modern architecture as usual, we’ll be adding fun and easy-to-follow how-to and DIY posts, modern design book reviews, posts about fashion and food (and how they both relate to interiors and architecture) and even a fun Mid-Century Modern game each week.

One of our most exciting new features will be our designer and architect interview podcasts. Each week we’ll interview a different design professional to learn about their company, their projects/products and where they get inspiration. You’ll be able to download the interviews to listen on your iPod, read interview transcripts and check out lots of fun photos and videos, so stay tuned.

Because there are so many 2modern readers with great ideas of things we should be covering, we’ll be streamlining our events and guest posts submission process so you’ll be able to submit anything you think is worthy for 2Modern, and you might even get a post published with credit! Check out our contact form and rules for posting.

Also exciting to us is how easy we will be able to interact with our readers. You can sign-in without hassle using Facebook, Google, Twitter and more, and you’ll be able to share posts and content you love with your friends easily. We’ve opened the door for more comments between our readers and our editors/contributors, so please keep those opinions and thoughts coming.

Most importantly, as we introduce these new features, we want all of our readers involved in how the 2Modern Blog evolves and shapes. We want your feedback on new posts, new features, functionality and aesthetics. If you have any questions, ideas or just want to say hello, please share your comments here. Feel free to spread the word about the new 2modern blog!

And be sure to come back to the 2modern blog later today as we post some sneak peeks of the new content you’ll be seeing starting next week.

  1. Sounds great, and it looks great but the new RSS stream that only shows the headlines is not so great.
I usually scan the pictures to decide whether it’s interesting enough to warrant a full read. I’m not sure I have the time to open a webpage for every single post..

    • Good feedback Edvard! I’m not sure if all of the kinks have been worked out with the new blog and our feeds yet, so I will definitely look into that. I like to look at the photos to see if I want to read a post, too!

  2. Really like your blog!

But you’ve also changed the rss feed, it doesn’t contain pictures or video anymore, which is a shame really.

Hope you’ll add them again, otherwise the feed iskanda boring. loved it the way it was.

    • Thanks for letting us know about that, Janes. As I mention in my reply above, not all the kinks might be worked out yet, so I will definitely bring this to tech’s attention to see if we can figure that out! Photos are way important.

  3. I love the new 2modern Blog !

  4. i like your post thank you very much

  5. Hey Folks,
I adore your site, particularly for the visual inspiration.

I appreciate that you made a number of advancements, but I do not think they are all progress. In particular, I really liked all of the pictures of a story displaying in a series without having to click into an exclusive story and then click out of it to return to the primary site.

If possible an ‘expand all’ feature that allowed for the rolling media effect you used to have would be a nice feature to think about in the future.

The way it is now, there is only one ‘hook’ image to get your attention and it is easy to scroll right past an uninteresting image – only to miss out on other more provocative content that is a click away.

Can’t make everybody happy! Imagine I am the minority here, but feedback is feedback.

Again, great work overall, nice mix of commercial and instruction.

    • You’re right Keith—feedback is feedback and we completely appreciate yours! We thought that by shortening the posts we’d be able to streamline the front page of our blog and make it easier to read lots of posts, but I completely see what you mean. Your ideas have been duly noted! And in the meantime we will just have to make sure our hook images are descriptive and fabulous! Hope you keep reading!

  6. Looks amazing! Congrats on your new look.

  7. Hey, great post… Very helpful – thanks for posting!
