While the phrase “emerging designer” might imply someone who’s only recently begun designing or is still young in their design career, we won’t necessarily be limiting this post to such folks in this weekly series. We’ll be reserving these posts to spotlight designers who are just starting to gain the recognition they deserve—no matter how long they’ve been in the business or designing. In fact you might say these are people we suggest you keep your eye on because we think they’ve got more great things up their sleeve.
Today’s emerging designer first got some buzz last year with his light fixtures made out of the packaging that Apple computers come in. Modular, graphic and recycled, these light fixtures made a huge splash in an office they were commissioned for. We recently ran into Eric at an event in Austin and he spoke to us about some ideas of projects he was thinking about tackling next. We won’t give anything away, but we highly suggest you keep a mental note of this designer! And be sure to read more about how Eric came up with the idea for these lights on his website.
Do you remember seeing these lights when they first started making the online rounds? Did you love them then? Do you still love them now?
