The Whimsical Works of David Weidman

…and also some serious ones.

 
I first learned of David Weidman at the Fairfax Flea Market in LA and was lucky & smart enough to purchase a silk screened postcard from one of his relatives. 

Years later, I was overjoyed to come across this book [originally published in 2008 by Gingko Press, now on it's second printing] which has beautiful reproductions of a "best of a lifetime's work" by the iconic Los Angeles illustrator and printmaker.  Weidman's work has an authentic 60's soul whose "out of the lines" printing style perfectly compliments the clean lines of modern design.  I find this title endlessly inspiring- particularly the language play posters in the back. 

The book is available autographed the artist's website, and comes with an additional print. A stellar deal.
