It is a rare occasion when something that is designed solely to function perfectly in the gritty and grimy arena that is a bicycle shop dares to approach the level of a sculptural work of art. The tools designed for bicycle maintenance and repair by the Park Tool Company do just that. With their ergonomically perfect blue handles and shining flat and octagonal surfaces they beg to be looked at and not just used. I would not be surprised if one of our visits to New York's Museum of Modern Art did not find these very tools staring back at us from the glass cases in their design galleries. Simple, beautiful, and perfectly functional, a combination that is a rare find.
