Yellow Submarine. Sort of.

Picture 7

Project: Architecture Office

Location: Wooded environs of Madrid, Spain.

Architects:  Selgas Cano

Description:  The self-designed office of Selgas Cano sits submerged into the forest floor like a submarine.  The project slyly erases the barrier between inside and outside by using a combination of strategies:  a super thin membrane, large expanses of near mullion-less glass, and a color scheme that looks as if the forest painted the interior.  The curved glass eliminates the corner between wall and roof, allowing the forest to bleed into the building. The project is animated by the contrast between its very sleek, futuristic skin and its raw, natural setting.
