The Shard in London

Construction of a new 72-storey skyscraper, The Shard, in London by Renzo Piano Building Workshop  has begun. The Shard, on the banks of river Thames, will be a 1004 feet (306 mts) high building as part of a new development known as the London Bridge Quarter. Keeping with the global trend of mixed-use buildings, The Shard will house offices, apartments, hotel, spa, retails spaces and a public viewing gallery. Once finished, it will be the tallest building in Western Europe.
